William Barker
William Barker joined Harwich Haven Authority as Marine Director in April 2023. As key member of the Authority’s executive team, his role involves leading on the Authority’s marine activities and performing the statutory duties and responsibilities of the Harbour Master.
As an experienced maritime professional, Will has more than twenty years’ operational experience working within statutory harbour authorities, safety of navigation, pilotage, dredging, hydrography and construction project management.
Will previously worked at Peel Ports Group where he managed the Mersey Marine Team to ensure the safe operation of three statutory harbour authorities and efficiently delivering a wide range of complex marine services.When working on the Hinkley Point C project he was responsible for establishing a new harbour authority, facilitating construction and operation of the c£150m jetty.
He has also held roles at Shoreham Port, Littlehampton Harbour Board and Chichester Harbour Conservancy on the south coast. Will is an active member of the UK Harbour Master Association Council and a Trinity House Younger Brother.
